Rutabaga Fries

Don't underestimate the humble but versatile rutabaga. I mean...HELLO fries that were devoured immediately after exit from the oven! This root veggie is packed with healthy fiber, magnesium, potassium, and large amounts of immune-boosting vitamin C! These pair well with many sauces and pestos.


  • 1 large rutabaga, peeled, and cut into ½ inch spears

  • 1 tbsp organic virgin coconut oil

  • ⅛ tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp organic smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp cumin

  • ⅛ tsp organic harissa powder


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

  2. Melt coconut oil on a baking sheet.

  3. Add the rutabaga spears and coat thoroughly.

  4. Mix together the remaining ingredients then sprinkle over the fries.

  5. Bake on the bottom oven rack for about 30 minutes, turning 2-3 times.

  6. Serve as is or with a dipping sauce. See my other recipes, and watch for more sauces and pestos in the next few weeks.
